5 Kitchen Tools I Couldn't Live Without

Jan 11, 2024

Just kidding, I'd live. But with celiac, you really have to get creative in the kitchen. Here are some of my favorite kitchen tools.

1. A veggie chopper.

If you follow me on Instagram, you're probably tired of hearing about this - but it really is that good. In addition to being a time-saver for cooking in general, does anyone actually enjoy chopping onions? I currently have this OXO one, but prefer this one (it broke after two years and I replaced with a different one).

2. Caraway Frying Pan

It took a while to commit to this purchase because we have a full set of Calphalon stainless steel pans (which I LOVE), but decided I wanted something that would make cooking things like eggs a little bit easier. This pan isn't perfect, but I'm all about progress over perfection in my non-toxic household journey. This is a huge step up from a traditional nonstick pan, and it works beautifully.

3. Meat Masher

Someone recommended this to me a couple years ago (to break up ground beef/ground chicken), but I thought it was unnecessary. Isn't that what a spatula is for? Nope - this little tool works SO much better, and it's wicked inexpensive!

4. Magnetic Measuring Spoons

I have a much ~cuter~ set of measuring spoons from Crate & Barrel, but most of them don't fit into my spice jars. I love that these are double sided, and even some of the largest sizes fit into my spice jars. Added bonus? They're easier to put away - no metal rings.

5. Oxo Storage Set

These storage containers are a staple in our kitchen and have been for 2.5 years. Looks so much neater than a bunch of bags, and also keeps things a lot cleaner - its easier to scoop flour/sugar/oats from wide-mouth containers vs. the container they came in. I even have the brown sugar keeper and these scoops to go with them - such a fun set!

Without all these gadgets and tools, I would be just fine - but anything that makes cooking a little more enjoyable is well worth it to me. What's your favorite tool?
